About The Structured Scoop
The Structured Scoop is the brainchild of Alper Deniz, a finance lawyer who can’t resist turning dense term sheets into stories. After more than two decades working on complex structured finance transactions across leading international firms and markets, he created The Structured Scoop to share the kind of clear, practical understanding that busy professionals rarely have time to write down. He leads a small editorial team that helps to interrogate the ideas, cut the fluff and make sure every sentence earns its place.
Between them, they have backgrounds in law, communications and even costume design – all of which show up in how they explain things. Articles usually begin as deal notes, “can someone explain this?” messages or heated discussions; the team’s job is to wrestle them into clear, honest pieces that you can read on a commute. The aim is simple: give you commercially useful insight, grounded in real transactions, so you can navigate funding structures with more confidence and less noise.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who writes The Structured Scoop?
The Structured Scoop is written by Alper Deniz and a small editorial team. Alper is the founder and lead voice – a finance lawyer with over two decades of experience in structured finance and capital markets across leading international firms. He writes most of the articles, drawing on real transactions and deal experience to turn complex structures into clear, practical insight.
He’s supported by an editorial team with backgrounds in communications, writing and – yes – even costume design. Their job is to challenge the ideas, strip out the jargon and make sure every piece reads the way it should: clearly, honestly and without wasting your time. Between them, they turn deal notes and “can someone explain this?” conversations into articles you can actually finish on a commute.
Is this for beginners or professionals?
Both. We write for trainees, curious readers, seasoned professionals, and anyone who’s ever googled “what is a repo?” and hoped for a better answer.
Do you give advice?
No – just explanations. For actual advice, you’ll need a lawyer, accountant, or financial advisor (who charges by the hour and frowns at jokes). Contact us if you need recommendations.
Can I suggest a topic?
Please do. We love good questions. Drop us a line and we’ll add it to our ever-growing “things we should definitely write about” list.
